ASP Submitted

Daon achieved a significant milestone in the development of its Riverbend Point lands when it completed the preparation and submission of the Area Structure Plan (ASP). The ASP is currently being circulated to various government agencies, utility companies and the RM of Wood Buffalo departments for review and comment. It is anticipated that this review will be completed by early February. The comments will then be compiled and submitted with recommendations to council. The ASP was prepared by Scheffer Andrew Ltd., a firm with more than 30 years of land development and municipal engineering expertise. The ASP, which has cost over $1.2 million to date, is the culmination of over 2-1/2 years of consultation between the RM of Wood Buffalo and our team of over 20 planners and consultants.

Riverbend Point is in the area identified in the Fringe Area Development Assessment that was adopted by Council as North of The Horse River. This area was deemed suitable for residential development.

Riverbend Point lies slightly west of Abasands. It sits on a majestic plateau that rises 300 feet above three river valleys, offering spectacular, breathtaking views of the Athabasca, Horse and Hangingstone Rivers that cannot be had from anywhere else. The uniqueness of this location will make Riverbend Point one of the most sought after addresses in Fort McMurray.

A full description of the proposed plan can be had by clicking on the Project Summary link.

Development of these lands will involve the construction of a new access road and bridge, and two river crossings under the Athabasca river to accommodate water and sanitary lines.
